What Readers Are Saying...

  • The ups and downs of their long journey are recounted in this personal and touching recollection of good times shared, and a sober reflection that what ultimately split true friends apart was not the dictates of world or religion, but rather utterly unforeseen circumstances. It is a deeply personal viewpoint of the intersection between vastly different cultures and the bridges to be built between both. -Small Press Bookwatch Index Midwest Book Review

  • Shifting Sands is a spellbinding must-read for anyone who wants to understand the culture of Saudi Arabia (and who doesn't, after the events of Sept. 11?)  Robin ~ Journalist & Travel Writer ~ Redmond, Washington
  • Thanks so much for writing such a readable book on the culture in Saudi. I appreciate the way you told your story without judgment, which is true understanding.  As world events unfold, I am now better educated to form opinions and votes!  Linda ~ Kansas City, MO
  • I found the writing to be flawless and colorful. Great job! I can’t wait to read the sequel. I’m dying to know what happened. Mike ~ Author, Lee’s Summit, MO
  • Your skillful foreshadowing of the demise of your relationship with the princess had me racing through the book to see what finally went wrong.  If I had known that I would not find out at the end, I would have read it more slowly.  I would have savored it more, enjoying more details.  However, you certainly "got me!"  I am now a fan and eagerly wait your finishing the sequel. Karen H. ~ Auburn, AL
  • I thought the book was very well written and is a good read for people who are interested in that part of the world. Ann Varnum ~ WTVY’s Morning Show ~ Dothan, AL
  • It is full of details that bring to life the women’s social functions….the close relationship between Teresa and the Princess…what it’s like to be a Western ex-patriate in a Muslim country. Lily Ambrose, Golden Bough Vintage Bookstore ~ Macon, GA
  • I was very impressed with your book and I learned a lot about Saudi culture and really appreciate you giving me the chance to learn. Without this book and your personal voice, I probably would have never thought to learn anything about this remote country. I can't wait to read your next book. Nicole Z. ~ Columbia, Missouri
  • On behalf of myself and the Vanguard Club I want to again thank you very much for being our guest speaker.  Your excellent presentation about your experiences in Saudi Arabia during your 10 year there with your family were very interesting, informative, and enlightening. Since the meeting, I have been thanked for inviting you and have received many favorable comments from many members about you and your talk. In fact, I remember few, if any, who created such follow up discussions. I am looking forward to reading your new book.Bill Woodson ~ Kansas City, Missouri
  • T.L. is not only a splendid writer; she is equally outstanding as a speaker. We have heard her on two occasions, one an all-women's group meeting and the other a mixed audience. Her presentations are fast-moving and full of unusual details of a fascinating experience.  Mr & Mrs. Cox ~ Kansas City, Missouri
  • Teresa is an excellent speaker and presenter.  She is very organized, articulate and captivates you as she speaks. She brings a bird's-eye-view of today's Saudi Arabia, its customs and people. I highly recommend T.L. as an experienced and capable speaker for any group. Phyllis Walters ~ Overland Park, Kansas
  • T.L. was obviously very fluent with her subject and had an excellent delivery. She fielded questions extremely well, was charismatic, answered the questions factually, threw in some humor and held this crowd of approximately 50 individuals for 20 minutes longer than our presenters usually present. I would most certainly recommend her as a very qualified and informative speaker. Larry C. ~ Kansas City, Missouri
  • I knew that life in Saudi Arabia was hard, especially for women. I had no idea just how hard until I read this book. It also opened my eyes to the way that Americans are treated in this part of the world, be they civilians or military. I purchased the book directly from the author and read it on the plane while traveling home to Washington state from Kansas City, MO. I highly recommend it! Anonymous via Barnes & Noble.
  • Excellent book. Keeps you very in touch and wanting to know more. I found it easy reading and did not want to put down. Anonymous via Barnes & Noble.
